Conclusion

There is a strong positive relationship between arm span and height of a person.
Pearson's Correlation Coefficient = 0.891, N = 50
Since p<0.05, the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected.

The linear equation obtained was:
Height = 0.788 (Arm Span) + 35.421

Our results tally with that proposed by Leonardo da Vinci and his Vitruvian man model, that the span of a person's arms is equal to his height. This is an interesting fact and can be further used in clinical practice or even in mass health screening events, to facilitate the measurement of height of people.


To better improve the accuracy and reliability of our results, we could:

• Use a larger sample size to better represent the target population (50 was chosen due to convenience)
• Minimise human error when recording by taking 3 readings instead of 2 to get the mean values
• Group the participants according to their age, gender and ethnicity & separate the data accordingly
